CRM 2011: Interesting Fact about Workflows and Dialogs

I was researching about workflows and dialogs for my recent task and I found out an interesting fact about how workflows and dialogs work.

There are 3 different ‘types’ of process.
– Definition : 1
– Activation : 2
– Template : 3

Definition is the default selection when creating a process; however you can choose to publish it as a Template.
Activation process cannot be created directly, but automatically created everytime a process is published. Yes, everytime.

Here’s the deal, every process you create will have one and only one Definition record, but an Activation record is created everytime it is published. The Definition record has a Lookup field to the current Activation record called ActiveWorkflowId.
